zine review: Work Funnies

Who would have thought being a car mechanic and a stripper had so much in common.

Work Funnies is by Constance from Columbus and is a high-quality, black-and-white, photocopied 28 pages. It reads quickly because it’s strong start to finish and hard to put down.

The jokes comment on observations relevant to nearly all jobs: simple ones often overlooked or would insult your coworkers. They’re pessimistic in a good way (especially the kid’s section), and not a depression-waiting-to-happen Debbie Downer. You know, just quirky enough to get you through your shitty job.

Whew, it’s been a while.

No one likes excuses, but here we go: lately they’ve been cracking down against “unauthorized computer usage” at work, my laptop cord shit the bed (the battery has never held a charge), 500 zines were made in the last three weeks, and, truthfully, I didn’t feel like seeing people. I mean, occasionally I came out late at night, got drunk, and made a fool of myself but …

This is verging on TMI for me, so I’ll finish: You can set this blog back to your homepage or at least resume checking it every time you’re online because regular posts are back.

Issue 3

It’s been a while and I apologize, I’ve been busy.

My laptop cord broke just in time to start the arduous process of copying, folding, assembling and stapling my zines. If you don’t believe me, I’ll show you all the calluses and paper cuts to prove it. Most of the 500 issues are done.

See me if you want a copy. I’ll try to leave them lying around The 15th House and at shows.  I’ll also drop them off at the punk houses, Used Kids and Wholly Craft soon.

Also, saw this article last week in U Weekly about can collecting. My first thought were “those mothers ripped off my can-collecting story in the Columbus Sucks magazine. Us journalism types are testy like that. My second thought was “why do all these college journalists (including myself) write shitty stories about the homeless/dumpster diving/collecting cans.” This one’s not so bad, but I had to laugh at the part were the author said the source “claimed to have found” all this great stuff in the trash like he didn’t believe him.

Come on man, just take the dive. You’ll see.

More Wacky News

Since I’m out of town this weekend all you’re going to get is wacky news stories I scheduled to be posted on Friday.

Below is a dude from South Carolina who got sentenced for getting caught, again, having sex with a horse.

The best viewer’s comment came from jackcraigson.

DWI Chair on eBay

So I read a story about the infamous motorized racing chair (pictured below)  that some dude in Minnesota got a DWI on was going to be on eBay. My natural response was let’s see how much it’s selling for. I couldn’t find it.

However, when crazy news stories happen you can count on plenty of people trying to make a quick buck off the incident. Below are two more eBay auctions. The first is a painting of a nude Obama with a woman’s body riding the chair, which has a unicorn horn on it, through a rainbow.
